Understand the different IWantClips message types
Message labels describe different payment and delivery rules. Check the type before explaining a charge to a fan.
| Type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Regular message | No charge to view the message or its included media. |
| Pay-to-view, or PTV | The artist sends media that the fan pays to unlock. |
| Pay Per Message, or PPM | The fan pays the artist-set fee to send an incoming message. |
| Tip or tribute | A gratuity, sometimes accompanied by an eligible message. |
| Scheduled | Set for a later send time; it can still require review. |
| Pending | Awaiting or displaying content-review status. |
Keep incoming and outgoing prices separate
PTV has a documented $1–$10,000 price range and requires media. PPM has a $0.25–$10,000 range and can exempt selected Free Message Fans.
A PPM fee does not automatically price every outgoing message. A tip does not incur an additional PPM fee, but attaching text to a tip requires a tip amount at least equal to the configured PPM amount.
Read status carefully
Unpaid/Read does not mean the fan unlocked paid media. Use the paid status and transaction record to check a purchase.
Visual attachments can require moderation before delivery. A message appearing in your own thread is not proof that its recipient has received or purchased it.
