Use the C4 app as an external encoder

This setup uses the phone for the camera stream and the computer's CAM4 broadcast window for room interaction. It does not install the Android app as a native Windows program.

Connect the phone stream to the room

  1. 1.Sign in to the intended CAM4 account on the phone and computer.
  2. 2.Open the C4 broadcasting app and choose its external encoder control beside the normal broadcast button.
  3. 3.On the computer, open CAM4 and choose Broadcast → External Encoder.
  4. 4.Check that the phone's picture appears in the preview.
  5. 5.Select Start Broadcast in the computer's broadcast window.

Keep both devices connected. Choose a phone position and network that can sustain the stream rather than assuming mobile data or Wi-Fi is always better.

Manage and end the session

Some app interactions are disabled in external-encoder mode. Use the computer's broadcast window for the room features available there.

When finished, stop the broadcast in CAM4 and stop the encoder stream in the phone app. Closing only one window is not a reliable way to confirm both parts have ended.

Check the final status before putting the phone away or leaving the camera unattended.
