Stripchat Webcam and Streaming Setup Guide

What internet connection do I need?
A stable connection is more important than chasing the highest possible headline speed.
Stripchat's setup guidance recommends at least 4 Mbps upload speed for standard streaming, with faster connections needed for higher-quality HD broadcasting. You can check your connection with our free speed test.
Where possible, connect your computer to your router using Ethernet rather than Wi-Fi.
What computer do I need?
Stripchat's guidance recommends a computer with at least:
- A quad-core processor
- 8 GB of RAM
For a smoother modern setup, Stripchat has also recommended systems around an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen, 8 GB RAM and an SSD.
The amount of power you need increases if you're also running software such as OBS, webcam effects or other applications while broadcasting.
Which webcam should I use?
Stripchat's own equipment guidance has listed webcams from manufacturers including Logitech, Razer and Lovense.
The exact model matters less than whether the camera can provide a clear, stable image at the resolution you intend to stream.
A more expensive camera won't compensate for poor lighting or an unstable internet connection.
Do I need a separate microphone?
Not necessarily.
You can begin with the microphone built into your webcam or device if it produces clear audio.
A dedicated USB microphone can improve sound quality if you want to upgrade your setup later.
How important is lighting?
Very.
Good lighting can make even a fairly ordinary webcam look significantly better.
Position your main light so your face and body are clearly visible without strong shadows or harsh light directly behind you.

What should my room look like?
Keep the part of the room visible on camera clean and intentional.
You can use decorations, lighting and background elements to give your broadcast a more distinctive appearance.
Most importantly, check the entire camera frame before going live. Only people properly registered and verified on your Stripchat account are allowed to appear in the broadcast.
Do I need OBS?
No.
You can broadcast directly through Stripchat without OBS.
