How to Get the Best Stream Quality on Stripchat
Good Stripchat stream quality depends on more than just your webcam. Your internet connection, computer or device, broadcast resolution and streaming setup all affect what viewers see.
Check your internet connection
A fast and stable internet connection is one of the most important factors for a good-quality broadcast.
Stripchat provides connection tests for different regions:
- America: https://stripchat.com/webrtc-connection-test.html?server=us5
- Europe: https://stripchat.com/webrtc-connection-test.html?server=eu7
- Asia: https://stripchat.com/webrtc-connection-test.html?server=as2
You can also check your connection with our free speed test.
Run the appropriate test before broadcasting. If your connection doesn't pass, improving your internet connection may make a bigger difference than upgrading your webcam.
Where possible, using a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi can also provide a more stable connection.
Choose the right broadcast resolution
When using Stripchat's browser broadcaster, the available resolution options include:
- Widescreen: 864 × 480 at 30fps
- High: 640 × 480 at 30fps
- Low: 320 × 240 at 30fps
Higher resolution can produce a clearer image, but it also requires a stronger and more stable internet connection.
If your stream is freezing, dropping frames or becoming unstable, lowering the resolution may provide a smoother broadcast.
Check your computer
Stripchat recommends at least:
- Windows 10
- Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen processor
- 8 GB RAM
- SSD storage
More powerful hardware can help when broadcasting at higher quality or using additional streaming software.
Use OBS for higher-quality streaming
For greater control over your broadcast quality, Stripchat supports OBS.
OBS can support streaming at resolutions of up to 1080p and gives you greater control over your video settings, scenes, cameras and other elements of your broadcast.
For an introduction, see our OBS setup guide.
Don't forget lighting
A more expensive webcam doesn't automatically produce a better-looking stream.
Good lighting can make a significant difference to image quality, even when using the same camera. Make sure your face and broadcast area are well lit and avoid having a strong light source directly behind you.
Ultimately, the best Stripchat stream quality comes from combining a stable internet connection, suitable resolution, capable device, good lighting and correctly configured camera or OBS setup.
