Some SMS alerts are selected when you send a site email, using the option to notify you when it is answered. That message-specific choice may explain a text not covered by your main alert preferences.

Read any cancellation instructions carefully. AdultWork's account guidance says a STOP keyword can deactivate an associated account, so do not assume every reply stops only one optional alert.

If you never authorized the messages

Contact AdultWork through its official support route and ask it to check the number association. A recycled number or an incorrect account record can need investigation; receiving a message alone does not prove who previously accessed your phone.
