Stripchat Camera or Microphone Not Working?
If Stripchat can't access your camera or microphone, or your broadcast is lagging, blank or interrupted, there are several things worth checking before changing your entire setup.
Stripchat says camera access is denied
First, make sure your browser has permission to use your camera and microphone on Stripchat.
If permission is already enabled but the camera still isn't working:
- 1.Update your browser.
- 2.Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- 3.Disconnect and reconnect your camera.
- 4.Close other programs that may be using the camera.
- 5.Restart your browser.
- 6.If necessary, restart your device.
Programs such as OBS, video calling software or webcam splitters can prevent the browser from accessing a camera if they're already using it.
My Stripchat video is blank or black
Make sure the correct camera is selected as your video source.
If you're using webcam splitting software, check that Stripchat is receiving the correct output from the splitter.
For a blank feed, Stripchat's troubleshooting guidance recommends stopping the broadcast, waiting around two minutes, refreshing the page and trying again.
If that doesn't work, restart your browser or computer.
My webcam is lagging
Check your internet connection first.
A wired Ethernet connection is generally more stable than Wi-Fi for broadcasting.
Also try closing unnecessary programs and browser tabs that may be using your computer or internet connection.
If you're using a VPN, proxy or other software that changes your connection, test the stream without it where appropriate to see whether it is contributing to the problem.
My video looks blurry or distorted
Check your camera's own settings and make sure the resolution is appropriate.
If you're using webcam splitting software, the resolution configured in the splitter should match the resolution you're sending to Stripchat.
A mismatch can cause poor image quality or an incorrect aspect ratio.
My microphone isn't working
Check that:
- The microphone is connected and switched on.
- It isn't muted.
- Stripchat has browser permission to use it.
- The correct microphone is selected.
- Your device's audio drivers are up to date.
If another application is already controlling the microphone, close it and try again.
OBS is having problems on Stripchat
Stripchat's troubleshooting guidance recommends OBS settings of up to:
- 1080p resolution
- 24–30 FPS
- 4 Mbps video bitrate
- 2–5 second keyframe interval
- 128 Kbps CBR audio
- 48 kHz audio sample rate
If your connection can't reliably maintain the selected quality, lowering your resolution or bitrate may produce a more stable stream.
