Display translated captions during SkyPrivate Chat calls

SkyPrivate documents Soniox as an option for translating speech from browser calls into on-screen text. Captions can help you follow another language, but they do not replace the other person's voice with translated speech.

Set up the extension

  1. 1.Open Chrome and install Soniox – Live Captions & Translation for Any Website from its Chrome Web Store listing.
  2. 2.Review the publisher, permissions, privacy information, and any payment requirements before installing or signing in.
  3. 3.Open SkyPrivate Chat in the browser and open the extension's icon or side panel.
  4. 4.Select your preferred translation language and start the audio capture when ready.
  5. 5.Read the transcript and translated text in the extension's panel or caption overlay.

The audio must be available to the browser capture. A muted or incorrectly selected source can leave the captions blank.

Use captions carefully

Discuss third-party transcription with the participant before using it. Audio processing is separate from SkyPrivate's calling service; do not assume it has the same privacy terms.

Check important prices, times, and boundaries in writing. Automatic translation can mishear words or change their meaning, especially when sound quality is poor.
