How to Add Images and Slideshows to OBS
Use an Image source to place a single graphic in an OBS scene, or Image Slide Show to rotate through several pictures. These are useful for recording layouts, backgrounds, and permitted on-screen graphics.
The ability to display an image in OBS does not mean a live-streaming platform allows static screens or every type of promotion.
Add one image
- 1.Select the scene in Scenes.
- 2.Click + in Sources and choose Image.
- 3.Create a source with a clear name.
- 4.Browse to the image file and confirm.
- 5.Move and resize it in the preview.
A PNG with transparency can work as a frame or overlay. Put it above the camera in the source list if it should appear in front. Put a background image below the camera.
Keep the graphic's original file in a stable folder. Moving or deleting it can leave OBS unable to load it later.
Create a slideshow
Add an Image Slide Show source instead. Add the image files or a folder, then review the playback settings.
Choose whether slides advance automatically or through hotkeys. Set the time between slides and a transition duration that fits the pace you want. Use Loop only if the sequence should repeat.
If the order matters, leave random playback off and check the file order. For a one-time sequence, decide whether the source should hide when it finishes.
Decide what happens when hidden
Slideshow visibility behavior can continue, pause, or restart playback when the source is not visible. Choose intentionally: a show that must begin with its first slide needs different behavior from a background sequence that should keep running.
For an individual image, Unload image when not showing can release resources, but it can also introduce a brief load delay when the source appears again.
Test more than the first scene
Switch away and return to see where the sequence resumes. Check transparent edges, picture proportions, and whether a graphic covers your camera or text.
Use files you own or have permission to display. Before using a slideshow during a live show, check the destination's rules for static content, external links, and on-screen branding.
